This may be the first time ever that Derek Vincent Smith, better known as the Colorado-based music & visual sensation Pretty Lights has asked us to purchase one of his songs, which is an extremely huge feat to accomplish at this point in his musical career considering the fact that he is one of the most well-known acts in the world. Pretty Lights has prided himself on releasing free music for the entirety of the career, and on Facebook, he mentioned it was never his intention to strictly sell tracks off his upcoming album. After his new single ‘So Bright’ leaked before it was ready to be released, Derek decided to release the track for free download. I’ve also included the BeatPort purchase link just incase you’d like to show Pretty Lights some love. Enjoy!

A new track from my upcoming record has leaked out unintentionally. The song is called So Bright. I was not ready to put this track out but some how it’s now posted on multiple sites as well as for sale on multiple sites. I made it available for free download just now on the PL site because it has never been my intention to strictly sell any tracks off my new record.

All the samples used in the track are from self composed one of a kind vinyl pressings. There is a short documentary to be released soon about the making of this upcoming PL album because it was a very unique and laborious process. Sugarpill is a Los Angeles based producer who drops a ridiculous number of remixes all year. All you have to do to in order to download this one free of monetary charge, is to like Sugarpill on Facebook.

The title track to the new remix set is true. Whatever happened to the good ol’ days when cats used to harmonize, you know? It starts out misleadingly slow but progresses in due time to the bassline.

These days, we can still listen to these additional remixes of Cassie and Nicki Minaj that do not suck at all. I would definitely recommend pressing play.

About a month ago Skorby put out a preview of a track and now, thanks to the kind folks over at Middle Finger Music, we get to experience ‘Area 51′ in all of its glory. WARNING: This song has been known to cause random dancing and mild aural seizures. ‘Area 51′ starts you off easy with some nice melodic organ-like synths, but as the ambient Gregorian chants get more intense, so does your heart rate. Before you know it, the 17-year-old producer drops you into a world filled with bass, lasers, and glitchy vocals as far as the eye can see. Hopefully I’ve given you an epic visualization of this track, because epic is the only word that can properly describe it. Considering that Skorby is just 17 years old, and only been seriously producing since late 2010, you would be wise to keep an eye on this young DJ because he is only going to get bigger. Enjoy!

My first thought on hearing this song was “why haven’t I heard these guys before?!” Save The Rave is made up of two Spaniards by the names of Javi and Michael, and they love to party. A quote taken from their Facebook says “our hearts don’t beat, they wobble”, so they definitely put a lot of heart into ‘Morbo.’ This track is absolutely MASSIVE, featuring heart-pounding buildups, huge drops, and that glitchy bass I know all of you love so much. There’s even a shout out to my man Justin Beiber thrown in the mix. Go ahead and like them on Facebook before you click play, because you probably won’t have a face by the time song is done. Turn your speakers up so your neighbors down the block can hear, because this song SLAPS!
