Mexican producer and DJ Mooij, formerly known by his full name Frederik Mooij, dropped a new EP this week with SectionZ Records that showcases his extreme talent at sound design and composition. One half of DJ duo Icarus Fly, Mooij has traditionally stuck almost entirely to house music, so it was somewhat of a surprise to find a gnarly funk tune and a very pretty melodic dubstep track on this EP. ‘Prime’ consists of 4 great examples of how electronic music should sound – every track has a unique style and is brimming with energy, weaving organic-sounding synth lines into and around dancefloor shaking rhythms.
Having already played the main stage at EDC Mexico and made the Beatport charts, Mooij is only going up, so definitely scope out the EP below.
