Well, that didn’t last long. Following a split that saw the departure of singer, Alice Glass, Crystal Castles has returned with a new track entitled “Frail” that sounds like it could have come off their first album.
Pushing the boundaries of electronica, Ethan provides gritty yet ambient sounds behind acid dream vocals, now courtesy of a singer named Edith. Like always, the sonic confusion they create just works, and freaking well, too.
Edith’s voice is surprisingly clear here, in contrast to Alice’s often muffled vocals, and I still have no idea what she’s saying – CC really is back.
