Where do I begin with Midoca’s Beautiful Story, Ugly Life EP? I genuinely had no idea what I was getting into when I pressed play, but I’ll tell you I received far more than any body of work I have listened to lately. Beautiful Story, Ugly Life is not just an EP, it is exactly what it says- a story. Midoca has flawlessly interlaced a narration of battling with toxic love and battling yourself among a symphony of somber guitar ballads, heart wrenching harmonies, and hypnotizing vocals.
I finished the EP feeling I had taken the journey with Midoca. While he revealed in an Unraveled episode his source of inspiration for the songs was different from my interpretation, I feel each person will take away a source of intimacy and relation.
