More people need to try and produce this type of music. Space Cadets call it TrapHouse and I’m a pretty big fan. The regular Trap is starting to take its toll on EDM and we need to add a little spice to it. FYS is another original banger from the EDM producing duo out of Maryland. Reaching way back into Egyptian times, our boy Mutrix drops one hell of an original track! This one was built up from scratch too, the vocals, the lyrics, all written and recorded by Mutrix himself. I always find it overly impressive when an artist can create such a good original track with no samples, it showcases true talent. Anyways, this filthy Dubstep track titled, Eye of Ra, has Mutrix’s signature filth and bass but added with the hint of Egyptian sounds making it a unique original. I dive into some egyptian mythology with this one. It’s based on the Egyptian god Ra. He is the most powerful god and god of the sun. In Egyptian mythology he created the humans from his own sweat and blood. According to the Egyptian book of the Dead, Ra crosses the underworld each night in a boat and then is reborn/emerges each day (the sunrise). As the story goes, Ra was very displeased when some humans were not worshipping him and actually plotted against him so he sent the goddess Sekhmet to slaughter people who were disobedient. She was violent and vengeful and also known as THE EYE OF RA.

As 50K week continues, we keep bringing the exclusives. This time we have another one from one of my personal favorites, Ennui. I know, I know “but everyone remixes Krewella” I get that. But what most people do is remix the dubstep portion and make it bass heavy and grimy. That’s not the case here, Ennui’s style is to emphasize on the beauty of songs. The bass and the filth are still there but its accompanied by a soothing feeling. I felt like I was floating above the clouds when I first heard this one.
