From Daft Punk and Air back in the day to newer artists like Madeon and The Geek x Vrv, electronic music from Paris has always had a certain appeal. Released on Nowadays Records, the Almeria LP from French producers Phazz and Everydayz has an artsy hip hop vibe that blends the sounds of their homeland with a smooth, almost jazzy aesthetic.
This album is ridiculously chilled out, and grooves with an insatiably funky future style. Their use of ambient sound interludes gives the project a very urban feel that recalls Burial, and complements the atmospheric beats perfectly. This music is just right for walking or driving around on a warm summer day, so it’s only fitting that it would be released right on the brink of spring.
