Austin Collins, better known as Au5, has returned to music label WAKAAN with a brand new collaboration. The Colorado-based classically trained producer and musician has teamed up with Nasty Purple for their song, Funk Ain’t Even.
It has a fantastic groove and the hefty dose of stompin bass is outrageous. It’s sick how each sound is clean and has their place in the mix. The electro bass sounds so big yet not distorted, like a Rick Rubin mixdown.
Funk Ain’t Even is best described by Au5 as “the inner philosophy of funk, reimagined within the context of heavy bass music. We’ve made modern EDM production bear funk’s imprint, creating something uniquely tangible yet allusive.”
