Tightly-knit genres have and will continue to stand strong, but they will stand in strength not in spirit. And EDM is one of the biggest platforms to fall into that very trap. A lot of us have allowed the conformity of genres and constant manufacturing of “popular” music. So when I hear 7 Minutes Dead’s new single, I’m washed over with a sense of relief.
“The Divide” is the Texan’s newest Monstercat release, and it couldn’t have a more suitable name. Crossing the gap between house, techno and electronica, it’s 5mins of refreshing harmonies and hypnotic undertones. Full of spirit from beginning to end, 7 Minutes has summed up the very essence of dance music better than anyone else could have.
