I know a lot of people were effected by the tragedies that happened this year at Electric Zoo, but I never thought it would hit this close to home. Recently, I found out that one of the people who died, Jeff Russ, was close friends with some of my closest friends at Syracuse University. Jeff was a student at Syracuse, and was a huge EDM fan. AYO ALEX!, who had his song “Moonachie” posted on the site a few months back, was at EZoo with Jeff and a few other friends, and witnessed the whole thing first hand. When he shared this song with me today, he told me that he had the song half finished at the time Jeff passed. He said that he put everything he had into this track to make Jeff proud, and I know for a fact that he succeeded. So here’s to you Jeff, you’re loved and missed by everyone who knew you.
