The year is 2010, Justin Blau, was making electronic dance music mashups in his college dorm at Washington University and begging blogs to share them. He was studying finance as he DJ’d frat parties for free bottles of Jack. During his junior year he had the bold idea of dropping out and focusing on DJing full time.
As we all know, 3LAU hit it big. He played all the mainstages worldwide. He made millions. He was the soundtrack to most people’s lives with his contagious releases. Successful by majority of people’s standards.
At 34, he realized that fame and metrics didn’t bring fulfillment. Justin’s new focus—only releasing music that is authentic and expresses his deepest emotions.
His new single, “Shotgun” kicks off this new era of Justin Blau. The song is a sensory exploration of human-machine entanglement. The music video is directed by @slimesunday and himself. Make sure to pay special attention to the last 15 seconds.
