For the past decade, Decadence has been the staple event to ring in the New Year in Arizona. To celebrate the decade of the festival, Relentless Beats went all in to make this year’s version the biggest yet. From the lineup to stage design and additional amenities, the festival knocked it out of the park. And you couldn’t have expected anything less with the likes of Deadmau5, John Summit, Excision, Dom Dolla, and more featured on the lineup. With a lineup that strong, you knew that Decadence Arizona was going to be the place to bring in 2025.
The party started immediately on day one for me with with Le Youth bringing the vibes at the Royal Ballroom stage Grand Palace while JSTR b2b Nostalgix brought the heat to the Grand Palace main stage. After that, Eli & Fur took the Royal Ballroom to another world with their deep techno. We then went back over to the Grand Palace for the rest of the night as things really kicked into gear over there. Tchami x Malaa: No Redemption brought the bass house sounds to the stage with high energy and eclectic beats. Next up was Deadmau5, who was my personal favorite of the festival. He opened his set with a lot of his hits before moving into a deeper and more clubby sound. There were still the hits thrown in there thoughout the set but once he got through those and into some deeper cuts, things really got moving. Dom Dolla following the Mau5 was another festival-favorite as he brought his signature tech house party sound to the stage. The set was banger after banger and the crowd never stopped getting down during his set. Ending the night was Excision at the Grand Palace throwing down like you would expect him to with his monstrous bass and dirty dubstep beats.
On NYE, the party really got up for a Tuesday with Zeds Dead kicking things off for me at the Grand Palace early in the night to really set the tone. After that the move was to check out Valentino Khan who threw down one of the most surprising sets of the festival. He opened up throwing down hard techno before transitioning over to his more signature sound about 20 minutes into the set. It was back to the Grand Palace after that for Mau P who played a dance party, club-like set followed by Dr. Fresch b2b Bijou who brought their moms to the festival to watch them throw down a g-house set full of bangers. The countdown was on after that with John Summit taking the main stage to drop the ball. As the drop for “Go Back” played, the New Year came in and with that a massive party. The confetti rained down, balloons dropped, and everyone was having the time of their lives.
The night didn’t end after that, thought. Sidepiece went on to tear down the Royal Ballroom and then Deorro closed things down at the main stage. It was an NYE to remember most definitely.
Other than the music, there was plentiful activities to do such as check out the Playground and Bazaar with tons of attractions to partake in as well as a three-channel silent disco where you could catch the best local acts Arizona has to offer.
To sum it up, a decade of Decadence was one of the best yet. The music, production, and everything in between is what you would want from a festival celebrating a major anniversary. We will certainly be looking forward to year 11 and another decade after that.
