Goldrush, the flagship festival produced by Arizona’s top electronic event organizer, Relentless Beats, continues to deliver an unmatched experience year after year. Known for showcasing stellar lineups and impressive production, Goldrush attracts not only Arizona locals but also electronic music lovers from beyond the state. The 2024 edition, dubbed Wild Card, stayed true to this tradition, offering an unforgettable weekend filled with amazing music, an electric crowd, and top-tier production that Relentless Beats is known for.At the heart of any great festival is the music, and Wild Card didn’t disappoint. Each artist brought their best to the Arizona desert, creating a diverse and powerful sonic experience. Standout performances for me included Alesso, Timmy Trumpet, Mall Grab, Slander, AC Slater, and Shermanology, all of whom brought unique vibes to the event.
Alesso mixed elements from both his classic and modern repertoires, provided a nostalgic yet fresh set. Seeing him again was a special moment, and his performance was just as captivating as I remembered. Timmy Trumpet brought nothing but energy. He mixed his bouncy electro sound with his signature trumpet and hardstyle. The whole time he was on the stage was a party. Mall Grab got deep and gritty with his set. An hour long of unique techno beats brought the crowd into a trance. Slander was an emotional journey with highs and lows. There was big energy mixed with melodic periods where the crowd sang together as one. AC Slater brought the house to the main stage with his Night Bass sound. The whole set was a party and the crowd got down. Shermanology’s set was a thrilling ride through funky house beats, keeping the crowd dancing non-stop. Each artist left it all on the stage, and not a single set fell flat across the entire weekend.
The stage production at Wild Card was equally impressive. Each stage had its own distinct personality, ensuring festival-goers never felt like they were seeing the same setup twice. The main stage, Paradise Prairie, dazzled with vibrant lighting and stunning LED displays, creating a visually immersive experience. Moonrise Mountain, the bass-centric stage, was more intimate, but it packed a punch with booming sound systems that had the headbangers thriving all weekend.
The most unique setup was Coyote Cove, home to house and techno acts, which took place inside a warehouse. This venue choice perfectly complemented the underground vibes of the music, making it feel like a true rave. The sound was immersive, and the crowd here was small but energetic, adding to the cozy and communal feel of the space. It was easy to lose track of time, getting completely swept up in the beats and energy of the crowd.
Beyond the music, Goldrush offered plenty of amenities to give attendees a break from the dance floors. From a roller rink and arcade games to a variety of vendor booths, there was no shortage of things to do during downtime. The festival catered to the needs of its audience, providing entertainment beyond the stages, which added to the overall experience. There were also plenty of food and drink options with short wait times, making it easy to refuel and get back to the action.
If you’re searching for a must-attend fall festival on the west coast, Goldrush should be at the top of your list. If you couldn’t make it this year, don’t miss out on the 2025 edition—it promises to be another unforgettable weekend!
