Catching Up With PLS&TY
Brian Bonavoglia

Never one to keep fans waiting too long in-between releases, PLS&TY has finally unveiled his 3 Days, 2 Nights EP.

After teasing his latest body of work throughout the spring and summer with the release of his singles “Party In My Head” with Lost Boy, “New Color,” “Yours” alongside Tudor and “Upside” featuring Ben Samama, the electronic dance music community can now enjoy the full spectrum of his light-to-dark musical journey in its entirety.

Still buzzing off the release of his new striking new EP on Seeking Blue, we took the time to catch up with PLS&TY!

PLS&TY – 3 Days, 2 Nights | Download |

TSS: You’ve been releasing music since 2016; how would you say your sound has evolved since first popping onto the scene?

PLS&TY: It’s certainly shape-shifted, yet it has remained cemented upon solid vocal foundations and danceable beats. Previously at a slower tempo, 2023 has now brought a new increasing tempo and danceability factor.

TSS: DJing or production – which came first for you?

PLS&TY: DJing! Production came about naturally thereafter, from an eagerness to become a well-rounded artist & play my own music in a live setting.

TSS: When it comes to the electronic dance music scene as a whole, what are some changes you’ve noticed over the years?

PLS&TY: I see genres coming in and out of style, with an ebb and flow of popularity. Acts & artists within those genres follow suit. There is an ever increasing necessity for social media presence and content creation. It’s difficult to sum up in totality, and whether I can speak to if many of the changes have been positive is for another conversation.

TSS: For anyone who may not be familiar with PLS&TY, how would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?

PLS&TY: Good Vibes. No pun intended.

TSS: What gear and programs are you using these days when it comes to production?

PLS&TY: A fully spec’d M1 MacBook, Ableton, and Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones.

TSS: What’s your creative process in the studio?

PLS&TY: I don’t truly have a set creative process. Often inspiration comes to me out of the blue. It’s in those moments where something randomly sparks, that I jump on and start working on the idea.

TSS: When you have a rough week or hit a wall creatively, how do you get back on track?

PLS&TY: Traveling never fails to inspire me. Seeing new places, meeting new people, trying new things… it’s newness that sanctions growth and inspiration for me in every aspect of life.

TSS: What was the inspiration behind your recent 3 Days, 2 Nights EP?

PLS&TY: “Party In My Head”, “New Color”, and “Limit” feature lighter, piano-house production, playing off of the “3 Days” daytime motif and titling, while “Yours” and “Upside” feature darker-house production, playing off of the “2 Nights” nighttime motif and titling. “Echoes” is a bonus track that I place right in between amongst the track order… “sunset” if you will. As the ‘3 Days, 2 Nights’ project unveils, each song and album cover take inspiration from the day to night motifs and themes of the EP titling, progressing in the order of the tracklisting from day to night.

TSS: If you had to pick one, which is your favorite track off the EP and why?

PLS&TY: “Party In My Head” is positioned as Track #1 on the EP, opening with piano notes that blend into organic melodies and an uplifting, muted bassline. It’s a blast of sunny, spring-break, feel-good vibes, and wholly kickstarts the day to night progression of the greater EP. It calls for listeners to remember that even in the darkest of hours, we have a radiant place to escape within our imaginations. Although, I really can’t pick favorites as the project is so special to me.

TSS: What does PLS&TY have in store for the remainder of 2023 and beyond?

PLS&TY: I’m taking it one day at a time. More live shows, more music, and more lifelong memories.
