Festival season is well underway and while there are a plethora to choose from these days, Movement Detroit continues to prove to be in a league of its own and a true bucket list destination for any avid electronic dance music fan.
This year, over 30,000 music fans daily made their way to Hart Plaza for the 17th edition of the festival which featured over 115 acts performing across six stages, including a VIP Pop-Up Stage (which hosted takeovers from Soul Clap, Detroit Techno Militia and Mija & Friends) during Memorial Day Weekend.
Once again showcasing the sounds of a masterfully curated artist lineup which featured the likes of the electronic music legends, Underworld, Skrillex, Charlotte de Witte, Kaskade (Redux), Zeds Dead (Altered States), Fisher, Dom Dolla b2b John Summit, and Three 6 Mafia, Movement Detroit remains committed to being a true celebration of techno and house.
Now what makes Movement Detroit so special in what many would consider an oversaturated festival circuit is it’s rich history being the mecca of techno music. Detroit may not be as glamorous as Miami or Las Vegas but that’s what makes this three day electronic extravaganza so special, it’s all about the music and the amount of effort put into honoring the pioneers of techno and it roots by Movement’s organizers proves how passionate they are in making sure the festival never loses its magic. There is simply no denying, Movement Detroit embodies everything the electronic dance music community stands for and is committed to staying to true who the are.
For all those who weren’t able to make the trip to Michigan this year, Movement Detroit 2023 looked a little something like this:
