Macklemore continues to bless us with music that hits you on a deeper level. At least that has been my experience. BEN, is the third studio album and I personally hearted 7 of 15 tracks. “Tail Lights” ft. North Carolina rising artist Morray can bring you to tears through the honest and pure lyrical contents… “You’ve got angels, boy..” Along with 15 songs, we got a music video for his latest single ‘No Bad Days’, which was directed by his 7-year-old daughter, Sloane. Macklemore says that Sloane is his dream director, and that he trusts her creative input more than anyone else’s. He’s also announced North American dates for THE BEN TOUR, which is set to start on September 17 at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now.
Macklemore says that he’s always wanted to make an album called ‘Ben’, and that this album allows him to let people in in a way that he hadn’t felt 100% comfortable with before. He had a rare pocket of time for introspection during the Global Pandemic, which allowed him to reflect on his life in a way that he hadn’t been able to before. He’s joined by a tight-knit group of collaborators such as Budo, Tyler Dox, and Experience, and they were able to create the album by removing all external distractions.
The album features collaborations with DJ Premier, Tones and I, NLE Choppa, Windser, and Sarah Barthel of Phantogram. Macklemore says that songwriting is the glue for his entire career, and that if you’re not writing words that resonate, the music won’t be successful. BEN showcases a more introspective side of Macklemore, and it’s sure to be a hit with fans who have been waiting for this album for a long time.
