Was there ever really any doubt that Relentless Beats wouldn’t come through and deliver a stellar festival with Goldrush at its new home, the Phoenix Raceway? With their track record, absolutely not. The production was as good as ever, the music was great as always, and the amenities gave the people plenty to do when some downtime was necessary.
So what were the highlights? We’ll start off with the music on Saturday. Saturday took it to another level with acts like Yolanda Be Cool stealing the show early in the night after we had an unfortunate delay to doors opening due to lightning in the area. After that, Rebuke stole the show at the Coyote Cove stage which may have been the coolest spot of the festival. The stage was located in a small warehouse-like building and featured an epic laser show and beaming light displays. When you were looking for those underground vibes, this was the place to be. After that, we moved to the mainstage where Chris Lake and Kaskade closed things out with a bang. Chris Lake brought his signature tech house sound that got everyone down while Kaskade opened things with a medley of his deep and progressive cuts before finishing the night with high energy.
To touch on the highlights of the other two nights, on Friday, Jai Wolf took us on a journey through his catalog and beyond in a dancefest of a set. Troyboi brought the house down with his wonky, signature sound, and Bob Moses transported us to the club with their DJ set. To really top things off, Excision closed the mainstage with an absolute bang.
On Sunday, TOKiMONSTA and Netsky each brought their own unique sounds to the mainstage while over at the Moonrise stage, Dom Dolla may have attracted the crowd of the night for his boisterous set. The festival then closed things out with REZZ at the mainstage where she dropped a set of her eclectic sound and even mixed in some Gesaffelstein which really got the crowd going.
Outside of the, festival-goers got to peruse many vendors located around the border of the festival, enjoy some roller skating, pose for pictures in areas setup for photo opps, and jam out to their selected sounds at the three-channel silent disco.
Overall, the festival was a success at the new venue with plenty of great things to experience for everyone. It was easy to get to and out of the festival in its secluded new home, and it didn’t feel as much was lost despite having less room at their old home at Rawhide. I am excited to see how Relentless Beats continues to enhance the experience at the Raceway with what they have learned from this first festival as there is always room to grow. With their NYE festival Decadence coming up in just a couple of months, we’ll soon have the chance to see what they have next in store. For now, we’ll just keep the memories of Goldrush alive in our heads and reminisce for the good times had over those three days.
