For Soltan (and many of us as well), 2020 has not been the best year. In June the DJ and producer lost his grandfather and then tragedy struck in Beirut, where he has ties. Despite this, he has been able to persevere and make the most out of the year, and he is paying homage to what he has experienced and what the rest of the world has experienced through his new song “Beirut.”
“Beirut” starts off with a sorrowful but triumphant trumpet featuring Middle Eastern stylings, before breaking down into a heavy bassline and the more familiar dubstep sound we are used to hearing from Soltan. The synth work in the song is impeccable and the drop will get you busting heads. The breakdown is menacing and shows that there is strength even in the face of adversity. The trumpet then signals the song out as it began. Soltan also shared his own words about the song which you can see below and what it means to him.
“Beirut” is out now via Never Say Die and is available for download. You can tell from his words and through the music that this is a special song for Soltan and one that will mean a lot to him as he continues to advance his career. So check it out and remember to keep positive in these tough times.
