Kwon, who began producing back in 2012 when he lived Blacksburg, VA. I went to college just north of where this kid lived. Small world. Throughout most of his life, he played piano and violin and his childhood was influenced by his father, who played bass and drums for a well-known band in Korea.
Before Kwon went off to college, he heard the music of the electronic group Pretty Lights, which changed his perspective on music forever. In school, he surrounded himself with like-minded individuals and became heavily involved in discovering new artists and genres in the scene. Collaborating with a few buddies, Kwon started a blog called Saucewiththat. Kwon then became compelled to share his love of music by taking up DJ gigs at house parties and local venues in Blacksburg, VA. There, he met Danny Kang, and began frequenting different shows in the DMV where he saw electronic music being performed at a level he never knew possible.
Kwon knew that being a DJ wasn’t enough. Inspired by his experiences, he became confident enough to try creating the music himself. With the assistance of his peers, notably Stephen, Imad Royal, Manila Killa, and others, he quickly grew proficient at music production and works tirelessly on his craft to this day. Check out his amazing record “Forever” that is built around samples of Drake’s well known hit.
