The mysterious masked electronic trio Black Tiger Sex Machine has been hard at work the last few months creating a monumental debut album that is more than just an album. Their goal was “to create not just a collection of songs, but an entire musical story set in our post-apocalyptic universe.” Simply reading the short synopsis of the backstory of the album on their Soundcloud had me excited before I even started listening. I highly recommend throwing on the first track of the LP, “The Virus (Intro)”, while you read it.
The world was a wondrous place. Technology had unlocked the skies; beings from far off planets had become new friends. The dream of utopia beckoned as humanity lifted itself towards transcendence.
Till one day, from within, they appeared. Ravenous, disfigured monsters, mad with an unquenchable lust for flesh, rampaging through villages and cities, consuming and infecting all they met with an incurable plague: the Kannibalen virus. As this tide of death spread uncontrollably, the rich fled to the stars and the visitors quarantined the planet, leaving the rest to fend for themselves. Some hid in far off wastelands, others locked themselves in walled cities, salvaging what they could to preserve what was left of civilization. Amidst the chaos, some sought profit and power: opportunists, war mongers, pirates twisted by evil; whispers spread of half-breads and mutants twisting their strings from the shadows. But hope still lived. Bands of survivors, fighting to preserve humanity and restore the world to what it was.
This is the story of one of these groups.
Welcome To Our Church!
It’s always fascinating when artists go above and beyond with their music by expanding into other forms of art, and it definitely shows in the consistent quality and mood of Black Tiger Sex Machine‘s tracks, especially the new ones on “Welcome To Our Church”.
Starting out the LP, their dark and cinematic intro sets the perfect mood for the smorgasbord of heavy dubstep, raging drum & bass, and bass-heavy electro house that constitutes their church. Staying true to the dystopian storyline, these tracks are not for the faint of heart and may lead to elevated blood pressure levels. Other side effects may include excessive raging, extreme headbanging, and/or complete loss of self-control.
