While countries like the Netherlands and Sweden have long been considered meccas of dance music, Australia has been making a strong case to take the dance music crown from Europe, as artists like Flume, Alison Wonderland, and Anna Lunoe all hail from the land down under, and are all dominating their respective genres. The latest stand-out artist to come from Australia is Back Back Forward Punch (BBFP), and the producer duo has just released their debut EP, Tragic Lover, and we can’t stop listening to it.
Armed with a sound that leans future, but still embodies elements of funk and disco, BBFP has refined their sound to feature soaring melodies, warm, bubbly basslines, groovy, electronic beats, infectious synth hooks, and heady vocals for a stunning product. Their latest single is “Machine Believing,” which features an electronic-influenced vocal layered over gliding arpeggios and a deep groove. Take a peep at “Machine Believing” below, and check out the full EP on Spotify.
