New EP “The Sword” by Lux.impala Strikes True
Alex Prevey

Once in awhile, a mixtape truly captures a strong sense of “ambient composition” and The Sword, by enigmatic artist lux.impala does just that. The six-track debut tape displays a masterful control of genre blending and composition as lux.impala carries you through this edgy jungle of heavy-bass, alternating hip-hop drum patterns and samples, especially prevalent on tracks such as Gotta Give and Stahp. However, this production style interweaves with striking synth and piano work on the powerful track, Code, giving listeners the full breath of what this mysterious producer can create giving just short, two-minute musical darts that certainly strike the soundscape bullseye. Along with incredible use of empty space within his work, the dynamite producer shows no signs of slowing his onslaught of production. We expect big things from lux.impala as he shows a brewing storm of talent with this recent release at it’s center.
