Zane Lowe Handpicks Gallant’s “Weight In Gold” As First Premiere Ever With Apple Music

As many of you may know Zane Lowe left BBC Radio 1 to join the new wave in music, Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio. He has been heating up the scene for years and what an honor it is for Gallant’s latest single “Weight In Gold” to be handpicked by the legend himself. This will be the first premiere by Zane on Beats 1 Radio. Talk about writing history.

Easily my favorite track from Gallant to date and with each note he hits the world begins to slowly understand his genius. 2015 has been nothing but success for the rising star as Billboard and NME have labeled him “Breakthrough Artist of 2015” and “The voice that will redefine R&B.” Amassing millions of plays online, selling out venues from New York City to Los Angeles, while rocketing up the Spotify viral charts, the Los Angeles based phenomenon is heading for GRAMMY gold.

Lyrics
black dust in orbit cascades down like a parachute
bricks on my shoulders, this gravity hurts when you know the truth

I’m pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own
pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own

we dreamt like martyrs—
I never thought I was bold enough.
you pushed me further
and I take the blame for the both of us

I’m pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own
pulling my weight in gold
call me anxious, call me broke
but I can’t lift this on my own

Oh, Universe— hold me up
you tried your best, is it ever enough when it’s already dragging me down?

From the same record label Mind of a Genius that also broke last year’s Grammy-nominated darling ZHU, Gallant is establishing himself as the artist worth your time and well worth your attention. From the stunning first single “Open Up” to his follow up “Talking In Your Sleep,” he shows no signs of stopping. His cover of the Foo Fighters’“Learn To Fly” is one way to close this article on a high note.
