Varien Unveils “Aether & Light” Ahead of His Debut Album on Monstercat

While you may not recognize the name, Varien, you’ll most surely recognize his music. The Tampa-based producer exploded onto the scene in 2011, when Skrillex commissioned the talented musician for an orchestral suite featuring “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites,” “First of the Year,” “Scatta,” and more. His music has been featured in blockbuster films like Furious 7, The Purge: Anarchy, and 300: Rise of an Empire, as well as TV shows like The Real World, The Walking Dead, America’s Next Top Model. With his last single, “Beyond the Surface,” still riding high, and his debut album, The Ancient & The Arcane, on Monstercat on the horizon, Varien has unveiled the last single off his album, “Aether & Light.”

Like most of his productions, “Aether & Light” does not fall within traditional genre lines, rather the track is an exploration in sound design. Orchestral string arrangements pave the way for glimmering synth melodies that build the track to its climax, before Varien unleashes a pounding drop.
