Modestep Is Back With New Rock/DnB Banger Snake

Modestep Is Back With New Rock/DnB Banger Snake
Nick Hailer

Put on those shades and wave to yesterday, because you’re day has just been made with a new Modestep track that’ll have you up all night until the sunlight hurts your eyes.

After dropping their debut album “Evolution Theory”, the UK bass group have been relatively quiet over the past year or so…. until now! Coming out of nowwhere Modestep drops the first single off their upcoming EP, “Snake,” which seems to be a song calling out those who doubted and talked down the group behind their backs (Or just on Twitter directly).

This track is reminiscent of rock/bass music hybrids like classic tunes from Chase and Status, Infected Mushroom or Pendulum back when they where leading the charge of electronic music merging with live instrumentation. With a wicked drum and bass pace, bolstered by heavy guitar riffs and a pounding bass line, this track will incite mosh pits and thrashing that should warrant a warning label outside of the venue reading “Enter At Your Own Risk”.

It would seem this time around Modestep isn’t leaning on alot of gnarly bass drops or simple catchy hooks to get their point across and if this track is any indication of what’s to come, they don’t need them. “Snake” is an absolute banger that’s more “M” then “EDM”. So for a healthy, balanced music pallet, this needs to be worked into your rotation as soon as you can download it.

I've been called "The Male Oprah Of DJ's", "The Mayor of Camp Bisco", and just plainly known and described as "That Is SoNick". Former member of the EDM/Mashup group Pulse FX (featured twice on ThisSongSlaps), I now spend my days soundcloud diving for new tracks at my full time job, frequenting concerts in the winter until it's festival season in the summer, and taking full advantage of my wife's family and friends discount at Guitar Center. Doesn't matter if it's a Glitch Mob show or Chadwick Stokes, you will most likely see me holding court in the smoking area or side stage talking endlessly on all things music. From everything to new tracks, new artists, production methods and performance styles, I have an opinion on everything and I have no problem sharing it.
