Let me tell you the first time I heard this magical record. Coachella 2014, Sahara Tent, Weekend 2, Day 1, Michael Brun. Brun, the dubbed young Haitian Dirty South protégé, whom had brought the rush in of dance music fans of Coahella who had made the conscious decision to migrate over from the “competing” Outkast performance back to the edged grounds of dusty progressive tunes.
Michael Brun had seen Martin Garrix earlier that day during the L.E.D. Presents, Hard Rock Hotel pool day party in Palm Springs, CA just a short few hours before his performance the at Coachella festival grounds. The two had probably knew that they’ve both been working with the ever-talented progressive house duo, DubVision and decided not to spoil the moment and carry one with playing proper house tracks until it was time.
Though, this festival anthemic track had made it’s debut during Ultra Music Festival Miami this past year with the track ID of “Miracle” a collaboration between Martin Garrix and DubVision (so it seems). Michael Brun, had everyone off guard once he mashed the record with Calvin Harris’s “Thinking About You” vocals, which after he played it through I couldn’t help to ask his manager who song it was, and behold to no surprise he said “DubVision’s new track”.
Soon after, I endlessly couldn’t stop watching the video footage I had taken on-stage when “Backlash” was being played. Realizing that this song certain song spells out all the right emotions when it comes to uplifting progressive tunes. Something i’d go into more detail to but 4 mini-paraagrpahs is enough for one post. Hit play on the music video below and you’ll get the idea.
