Wakarusa Music Festival Necessities List
In order to enhance your Wakarusa experience, or for that matter to make sure you have the best time possible for any camping festival is making sure you have all the necessary items packed away with you in your car before hitting the road to Mulberry Mountain. On the Mountain at Wakarusa anything can happen climate wise, so it is important for all Wakarusa goers know that Mother Nature can throw anything at us, whether the sun is out and it’s scorching hot without a cloud in the sky, or super chilly up in the mountains, or even massive storms that could potentially ruin your campsite, so It’s important to always be prepared for anything. So for you guys, we have compiled a complete list of items that are completely necessary.
Our TSS Top 10
10. Umbrella/Tarp/Canopy – Whether your chillin’ in your lawn chair at the back of a set, up in the crowd, or just trying to get some downtime back at your campsite inbetween acts, it’s always crucial that you have either of these things when the sun is out. Tarps can be used for shade or just for the ground of your campsite as well. Getting some shade can change your weekend from perfect to unbearable if you get too much sun. Don’t forget your sunglasses either!
9. Clothes:
– Rain gear – You always need to be prepare for some rain because you just never know when Mother Nature is going to have an off day, so bring a poncho or rain jacket, an umbrella and some towels. Maybe even some rainboots because in recent past is has be known to get a little muddy ;)
– Clothes for all weather – Aside from rain gear, it’s probably good idea to bring some warm clothes for at night as well as light ones like tanks or swimsuits for coolin’ in the sun. Even though it’s summer in Arkansas, as that might seem like it should for sure be hot and sunny, but don’t be surprised if it cools off a lot late at night so be sure to pack some pants and a jacket.
8. Sunscreen –You can’t just sit under the shade all day! You got to stand up and get the funk down with everyone else and rage in the sun when it’s sunny up on Mulberry Mountain. So bringing some sunscreen to apply throughout the day will help you out substantially.
7. Portable Speakers – Portable speakers are the best for at the campsite with your friends to listen to before heading out to see your favorite acts or when just for when winding down.
6. Tent – Obviously. A basic necessity of most any camping adventure is a tent setup for homebase. If you wanna go to waka in style you can do it with glamping, but you can never go wrong with just a basic tent set-up that will get the job done, either way, you’ll have a nice place to come back to when you need a pause between some super epic sets.
5. Sleeping bag/Blankets/Mat/Blow-up mattress – Whatever it may be, if you’re trying to hit the hay and go sleep at night (some may not be, with some sunrise sets) you probablyyyy would want to bring something comfortable for you to sleep on instead of just the ground and get rested up. Some people love posting up in hammocks, but for me, nothing really beats a nice soft sleeping bag on. You just can’t beat it.
4. Paper Towels & T.P. – These two items are handy for so many reasons whether cleaning up your fold out tables to whipping off mud, T.P. is necessary and used for multiple purposes, so bring a roll and have someone in your crew keep some in your while you’re out on the stage grounds.
3. Comfortable footwear – Whether your just going from stage to stage, or walking to the vendors and bathrooms, or maybe you even want to go on a nice hike, your shoes, boots or flip-flops are key because if you’re like most people, you’re going to be on your feet all day long. I recommend something that gives you decent support and won’t slip off and get swallowed in a little mud.
2. Food – There are plenty of nice people working at vendor stations all around the whole festival selling super dank foods you will want to keep coming back for, but having your own grocery munchies at your camp is crucial to getting through the festi. Don’t forget to bring some nutritious foods to keep you fueled up and going!
1. Water – Essential to life. Water is the absolute most important thing you will need! Make sure you to bring large quantities of it! It keeps the body going so you can keep partying and it’s always refreshing in the heat. Personally, I love having a Camelback on me so I can keep everything out of my pockets and stay hydrated all day long. Being hydrated and staying hydrated is key.
