Mat Zo Takes An Alternative Route, All Future Music Will Be Free

Mat Zo Takes An Alternative Route, All Future Music Will Be Free
Toby Reaper

Even at the age of 23, Mat Zo has one of the most refined tastes in all of contemporary electronic music. With his new original “Oldskool Trip,” he gives us a reminder of the depth of his production skills by combining stellar production value with classic disco style and old school house feels. One could even say this track is reminiscent of Daft Punk’s earlier work. If you didn’t previously realize how great of a producer Mat Zo is, that fact alone should give you an idea of how big he is going to be in the near future.

The real controversy also comes with Zo’s recent announcement to release all future music for free. For anyone involved with the inner workings of record labels, it is plain knowledge that planning the release of a song can be both strenuous and frustrating. What this affects is an artist’s ability to be both spontaneous and keep up to date, as a track may take well up to a year to push out.
