Hot on the tails of a monster set at Ultra and an even bigger set at Coachella, Mr. Moombah himself Dillon Francis is back with a remix of Chrome’s “Jealous”. The track is classic Dillon: A disco/moombahton fusion that just exudes swagger. Smooth, jazzy vocals kick start the track into wide, high pitched leads that slowly warp into a drop that can only be described as mind blowing. While the track will sound instantly familiar to Dillon fans, it has a fresh, distinct flavor to it that feels brand new.
The drop texture is similar to something you might hear from SNAILS: Deep, thick bass with strong mid chords, punctuated by a crisp, crunchy texture that so far has defined electro house in 2014. The first drop is pure electro mayhem, but the second throws wide synths into the mix for an explosive finish that feels more massive than anything Dillon has released to date. After a marquee year in 2013 with the release of his biggest single yet “Without You”, it sounds like Dillon has taken an even bigger leap forward as a producer. The sonic quality of the track is second to none in the genre, and stakes a claim among the very best in electronic music.
If this is a taste of the flavor to come on his album (tentatively slated to release in July), then it looks like Mr. Francis is about to be a household name not just in the EDM community, but as a musician worldwide. Primed just in time for festival season, Dillon’s “Jealous” remix is a true banger you can plan to have on repeat this summer, just be sure to play it loud and serve it up with a cold drink.
