Our Favorite Mixes of 2013

2013 was full of amazing music. We got new albums, new artists, new collaborations and DJ Duo’s out the wazoo, but we also got a plethora of mixes. Between Diplo & Friends and the rest of the worlds radio shows we got weekly 1 or even 2 hour mixes from all of our favorite artists. We were spoiled rotten and we loved every second of it. With so many great producers and musicians out there, it’s almost impossible to breakdown the top mixes of the year. However, we are going to take a stab at it anyways and give you our top 10. Lists such as this are always controversial, but nonetheless here are the top mixes from 2013 from TSS:

1. Skrillex’s Essential Mix

Hands down the best mix all year. It was unprecedented, unparalleled, unmatched. It broke BBC records left and right. Musical genius and musical perfection at it’s finest.

2. Adventure Club – Superheroes Anonymous Volume 4

Everyone kept saying “Why Volume 4? Why not Volume 2?” Well, while it’s hard to argue against Volume 2, I feel as though Volume 4 Trumps it by a solid hour and ten minutes.

3. Flux Pavilion’s Diplo & Friends Mix

I still listen to this on a weekly basis. It had SO many new tunes packed into it. Crazy mix from one of the greatest masterminds of all time.

4. Krewella’s Troll Mix Volume 2

This one is almost a year old and I had to dial up the time machine but we can’t forget how crazy this was. The Road To Ultra for the Krew was an unforgettable one. That mix still has unreleased tunes in it.

5. Zeds Dead Altered States Mix

This one had a crazy combo of things. It had Deep and Tech House. It had Trap and Dubstep. It just had everything you wanted in a mix.

6. Diplo’s Rollerskating Through The Universe Mix

I don’t have to explain this one. Just Diplo being Diplo.

7. Bassnectar – Immersive Music Mixtape – Side Two

The God that is Bassnectar blessed us with not one but TWO mixes just like this. Side Two was just better than side one so I went with it.

8. Carnage presents: Incredible – Episode 009 [Live from Philadelphia]

Probably one of the best sets I heard all year was Carnage’s set from Philly. He had two encores and played 20 minutes longer than he was allowed to. He went off! Out of all his sets this year, this was his best. What a year for this kid.

9. Cashmere Cat’s Diplo & Friends Mix

Everyone kept telling me I needed to add this mix in the top 10. After revisiting it and taking another listen, I would have been crazy to not put it on here.

10. Dog Blood – Coachella 2013 Mix

You knew Dog Blood had to make it on here somehow, some way. I couldn’t honestly pick a set I liked best from these guys, I went with Coachella but honestly the Ezoo set was just as good.
