This ethereal groove comes straight from the minds of Dominic Lalli and Jeremy Salken, the former handling production and absolutely murdering the tenor saxophone and the latter holding it down on drums. These two make up Big Gigantic, a unique electronic project fusing funky jazz stylings with raw basslines and swirling electronica. The result of all this is a rare mix of natural and synthetic sound that never ceases to impress. I had the fortune of seeing the duo open for Pretty Lights and Bassnectar in Georgia last October, and they really killed it in a completely different way from any other act of the weekend. On this song in particular, I’m really digging the slightly grittier sound, which wasn’t present on their previous album. It has a number of very cool basslines and melodies, and as always, some absolutely dirty sax work from Mr. Lalli. There’s also a video on YouTube of them performing this track on New Year’s in Chicago that’s definitely worth checking out too. Kick back, turn up your speakers and enjoy!
