If you haven’t heard, recently a huge political issue is happening in Egypt that led to many days of protests. The biggest demand of the protesters was the immediate ouster of President Mubarak, who has ruled the country for the past 30 years under a number of sham elections. In an effort to suppress protesters, Egypt took a step that’s rare even among authoritarian governments: It cut off the Internet across the entire country and suspended cell-phone service in some areas. It’s a huge deal that the Egyptian people, under harsh rule of an unfair tyrant, found bravery and conviction to come together and stand up to an aggressor, against all odds. It’s also very interesting that this uprising was fueled by the Internet.
Bassnectar had something to say about this political issue, but instead of using words, he used BASS (and a free download)! This is Bassnectar’s remix of The Bangles song titled ‘Walk Like An Egyptian.’ Bassnectar has been blowing up the dubstep world with free tracks lately. Two weeks ago I showed you his spine-chilling remix of Ellie Goulding’s song ‘Lights’ which turned out to be very popular here on TSS. If you have a chance also be sure to listen to his remix of The Pixie’s song ‘Where Is My Mind’, ‘Yes’, his ‘2010 BBC Mixtape’, and ‘The 808 Track’. Sit back, turn up your bass, and enjoy!
