Morgan Page's "In The Air (feat. Angela McCluskey)" is a great track, but well-deserving of an update and a new flavor. SNBRN has taken McCluskey's delicious vocals and built a deep house-esque remix around them. In doing so he has fleshed out the softer and more subtle aspects of the track, while still maintaining the progressive builds and club-ready energy of the original. Grab the free download below, press play, let the groove take control of you, and check out SNBRN's debut EP release with Mossburg Pump on Prep School Recordings. Follow @JustinAnastasio
The Outfield's "Your Love" has been covered and sampled so many times that it's hard to keep track, but Morgan Page's new version takes the cake when it comes to modernizing the classic rock hit. The members of The Outfield even gave him their blessing by re-recording the vocals to the song and handing the tracks over to Page in order for him to add his signature, progressive house flavor. The updated vocals fit perfectly over the club-ready beat and glistening synth production. Page recently talked to Rolling Stone about the track:
"I wanted to give a modern twist to this classic. It just felt right. I reached out to The Outfield and asked for a recent version. They re-recorded the vocals, and I added my production to it. I think it kicks the song into 2013. It's just a universal pop song. It doesn't matter what year it is. Everybody can wrap their mind around the track and lyrics. It means so much to me that I got the artist's blessing."We have a teaser of the song you can check out below, and you can check out the full song over at Rolling Stone. Watch for the release of the track tomorrow and its invasion on dance floors everywhere this summer! Follow @JustinAnastasio
Here's a name that some of you might not be familiar with, but you should learn real quick: Charlie Darker. This Canadian superstar is making his TSS debut with his brand new track, 'Soup'. Now I definitely wouldn't say that this song SLAPS, so to speak, but that is not an insult at all. This is the sort of electro that you play when you're looking to just viiiibe out with some of your buddies at a party. In my opinion this type of music takes a lot more skill to produce because the listeners are able to hear every little musical detail since it's not being drowned with overly loud bass, so the producer is forced to perfect every sound or else it sounds like trash. Mr. Darker did a fantastic job on this track and i'll definitely be bumping this in my car on my late night drives all Summer long. Grab the free download from Charlie's Facebook page and get your vibe on!
Deadmau5 seems to take to the studio whenever things get complicated; pun intended. This is a great thing because in the middle of all the relationship controversy with Kat Von D towards the end of last month, Deadmau5 dropped two new tracks titled "Suckfest9001" & "You There?" Now, after bickering back and forth with Afrojack about a statement made about success in the EDM world during Insomniac's EDMbiz, the Mau5 is back with a fresh new experimental tune titled "Suite 02". I hope Deadmau5 keeps finding himself in complicated situations so we can continue hearing new productions.
Kaskade has put his own progressive house spin on Lana Del Rey's hit "Young & Beautiful" coming off The Great Gatsby Soundtrack, and we've finally got our hands on it. When you see Kaskade's name stamped to a remix, you already know it's going to be golden. Throw in Lana Del Rey's amazing lyrics, and you know you've got yourself one hell of a tune from start to finish.
'Amazing' is spelled F-E-L-I-X. Now that might sound inaccurate and offensive to the Kindergarten teacher that taught you how to spell, but she had probably never listened to Felix Cartal and his latest single, 'Young Love'. Featuring vocals from the always angelic Koko LaRoo, this track is just bursting at the waveforms with energy and i'll be damned if I wouldn't take my shirt off and fist pump the night away to this song at a club..Or even alone in my room. Give Vancouver native, Felix Cartal, some post-Canada Day love and buy the song on iTunes today because THIS. SONG. SLAPS!
Pierce Fulton is becoming my favorite producer with tracks like this. One of my least favorite things is when a producer "remixes" a song and basically just makes their own song, and adds in vocal samples or something. Pierce Fulton did a fantastic job on this remix by paying homage to Atlas Genius' original song, 'Symptoms'. I'm actually a pretty big Atlas Genius fan and i'm a huge fan of this remix because it's not too overwhelming, and stays true to the band's chill/laidback sound, but at the same time I could definitely see this remix going OFF at a club. Grab the free download below and check out Pierce Fulton's amazing music on his Facebook or Soundcloud pages.
It's always cool to see someone you actually know blowing up. Doug Bogan, a DJ who goes to school with me at Bucknell (although he just recently graduated), is extremely good at what he does, and if you haven't heard of him before, you should definitely take some time to peruse his back catalog of mashups and original tracks on Soundcloud. There are a ton of bangers in there that can bring the party pretty much anywhere. One thing that's especially awesome about Doug is that aside from being a DJ, he is also an accomplished jazz and classical pianist, which is something that most people in the EDM scene definitely do not have going for them. Anyway, this is a pretty awesome mashup of his including Krewella, Zedd, R3hab, Nicky Romero, Vicetone and more, and its a serious banger. He just dropped this video chronicling a recent show of his in San Diego, which goes really nicely with the track. Enjoy! Follow @TSSxCHRISTOS
After our extremely successful Mixify event, I came into contact with Gatzby. If you haven’t heard his Feed Me Diamonds remix, go listen to it right now. All progressive house fans won’t be disappointed. Anyway, the track we are premiering today is Gatzby’s first release in 6 months, and is yet another one of his progressive remixes of the Gemini song Fire Inside. Gatzby, who is 19 year old Swedish producer Gabriel Forsberg, has been producing for about one and a half years, but it sounds like he’s been producing since birth. This remix is flawless, and it’s here just in time for summer. Grab the download below, and keep your eyes on Gatzby. He’s been in the studio non stop so expect for from this guy soon! Gemini feat. WARNING - RANT: Well I know this is a joke. It has to be. And if it's not...I'm turning it into one. Did you see the title of this blog? What the hell? What's with all these "celebrity" "artists" trying to jump into EDM? Are they bored? Are they all washed up with nothing left in their minuscule careers? The answer has to be yes. Has to be. Sadly, seems like Nick Cannon will be producing a "house album" titled "White People Dance Music" and yes I'm offended. Not obscenely offended, but what the hell is up with that title? No one was going to take this album seriously anyways but with that title I can guarantee you no one will even batt an eyelash at it. I kinda feel like he is making fun of the music too and yet he wants to produce a serious album and have it be a hit? And he's going to collaborate with Afrojack? Gross. I just don't get it. I mean it's not very "PLUR" of us to bash these people trying to expand their careers and stuff, but from my perspective, they're doing it for the wrong reasons. They're money chasers. They see something big and they go after the revenue it pulls in. That's not really what we are about in the EDM scene. Every raver I know is broke as a joke, including myself. We just do it for the music. Also, I think I read someone else's blog post that actually supported this and thought it was a good tune: Supposedly this is the first single off the album. That isn't House music. That isn't even music.Too many horrendous vocals and lyrics as well. What was he thinking? Or was he even thinking? I have so many questions. And I'm all fine with Nick Cannon producing an album. Go ahead, do your thing Nick. Just don't call it House music and certainly don't identify yourself with the EDM scene. And if I'm wrong someone please tell me, if you have a strong opposing opinion to mine let's chat, civilly. I love music debates. This isn't meant to be malicious. I don't hate Nick Cannon, dude was hilarious on Wild'N Out, but I don't support his music or the title of his album. I don't know maybe I'm just an asshole but I've engulfed my life in EDM so I feel like I should have a voice. With all that being said we should definitely do a "Not Top Ten" all time worst celebrity moves into the EDM Scene...it's definitely a toss up between Nick Cannon, Will.I.Steal and Paris Hilton. But what are some other good ones? Send submissions to @Jduham and I'll do a "Not Top Ten" blog and entertain you with a shitstorm rant. Follow @jduham
