FINALLY! Back in November, 12th Planet promised a free five-track EP to kick off the start of his The End Is Near tour. I’ve been super stoked about this one ever since he teased us over Facebook, and today it’s finally here. This bangin’ EP, presented to us by Scion A/V, also features tracks from Skrillex, Antiserum, and Flinch. Be sure to check out the newly released dates to see when the tour comes through your city. X.O., a friend of mine from San Diego State, released his debut hip hop mixtape called Check Please Volume 1 about two months ago. Since then, the skillfully crafted mixtape has received tons of attention which has in turn boosted X.O.’s hip hop career opening up many doors for him in the San Diego area. The whole mixtape flows together smoothly and demonstrates X.O.’s skilled lyricism and unique rapping abilities. For the release of his mixtape, X.O. produced a music video to go along with the care-free party song ‘Good Time,’ which has received well over 10,000 views on YouTube.
X.O. is back with another well-produced music video for his second single ‘Fire In My Shades’ coming off his debut mixtape. This video was shot over a 3-day period showing some highlights of San Diego’s nightlife from Downtown, to bay-side bonfires, to some of X.O.’s recent shows. Everyone remembers Crime Mob’s rowdy head bangin’ hip hop song ‘Knuck If You Buck,’ right? My friend Robbie from North Carolina sent me over this track a couple days ago to let me know that two of his friends, Styles & Complete, are starting to get into the dubstep scene with a heavy hip hop influence. This is their new dubstep hip hop remix of ‘Knuck If You Buck.’ As if this song wasn’t rowdy enough, Styles & Complete added a HEAVY scratchy bass line to accompany the menacing lyricism from Crime Mob. The mashup mastermind from Colorado who brought you one of my all-time favorite mashups featuring Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Switft, ‘Mean Planes & Taylor Gangs,’ and Biggie Smalls’ ‘Time For What You Want,’ is back on top of the blog world again with a new track featuring Sonny Shotz. After touring together on The Animal House Tour, Brenton Duvall and hip hop artist Sonny Shotz paired up to demonstrate both of their talents on the mic and behind the beats. The result of this collaboration is their new chill hip hop track called ‘I’m Only Twenty.’ I hope these two artists team up to produce more collaboration songs in the future.
