This album is really, really cool. I’ve been jamming out to it while doing my work all day. Although it’s a little more out there than a lot of the stuff we post, it has a really interesting concept. This is taken directly from the description on Bandcamp:
This is my sophomore album, Nostalgiarithm, finished 3 years after my first, Penultimate. It’s about the “downswing” of a night on the town, starting at peak hour with uptempo ‘club’ tracks and progressing down through more chilled out vibes until finally it passes out in the early morning. Of course, along the way there are plenty of detours… I hope you enjoy it; it has been a labor of love for six+ months!
PrototypeRaptor has some really deep stuff going on, while also being very catchy and danceable at all the right moments. As you can tell from his description, this is definitely an album to be enjoyed as a whole, which I think is something you really don’t see enough of in electronic music. It starts off with some really innovative housey tracks and slowly moves towards something akin to chillstep. The hard work he put in has absolutely paid off in my opinion, and I hope all of you enjoy this album as much as I have!

Banger Alert! Protohype is at it again! This man has been working hard lately and just minutes ago he dropped his latest piece. Remixing Deep Love by Frew, Protohype hits us with a dirty Dubstep element containing some heavy growls and deep base. The build up, using tuned vocals, helps create the devastating drop. Enjoy the free download below and be sure to stay tuned for more from this promising producer straight out of LA.

Just when everybody thought Nero owned this track, Butch Clancy came out of left field with this beauty. We’ve featured quite a few of this guy’s tracks in the past, and he never fails to disappoint. This remix in particular is deep and filthy, and puts Butch’s signature brand of energy and bubbly synths to great use. The latin beats peppered in occasionally also serve as an interesting contrast to the filthy bass and the half time feel of the main beat, giving the track as a whole a varied palette. All in all, this is a pretty damn cool track. Kick back, turn up your speakers, and enjoy!

I like to spend my Sundays listening to dubstep from the deeper end of the spectrum. I generally have found that its a nice counterpoint to the chaos of the typical college weekend. This track is absolutely perfect for that. If you haven’t heard Dub Side of the Moon, or the even cooler Dubber Side of the Moon, I suggest you download both albums immediately. The latter was literally the soundtrack to my freshman year of college. Basically, the first of the two was a project by a group called the Easy Star All-Stars, which, as it sounds, is a sort of supergroup formed out of members of various groups from the reggae label Easy Star Records, who recreated the entire album ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ by Pink Floyd in a dub style. I could go on and on about how awesome this album is, and how much more awesome its sequel, ‘Dubber Side of the Moon,’ which consists of bass heavy remixes of all the songs from the original one, is, but I digress. This post is about Buku’s remix, which is a deep, heavy remix of ‘Breathe,’ which is definitely one of the highlights of ‘Dub Side of the Moon’ to begin with. Buku is a young producer from Pittsburgh, PA (kind of my neck of the woods now that I’m at school out here in Pennsyltucky). This remix is an excellent blend of the dubby vibes of the original and the booming bass energy we all know and love here at ThisSongSlaps. Definitely check it out, I promise it will be an excellent complement to your Sunday night. Mellow out and enjoy!
