I had been looking forward to this show for a long time because Bro Safari is one of the producers that really got me in to Trap and Moombahton music. The crowd was absolutely electric, and very drunk. We had all just finished our final exams for the semester and we were ready to throw down; Evidently so was Bro Safari. His set was flawless, insane, ratchet, and a lot more cool adjectives that I can’t think of right now. He played all of his best remixes, originals, and everyone’s favorite Trap and Moombahton anthems. Nothing can describe my level of joy when he threw down his new remix of ‘Gal A Bubble’ that he worked on with Major Lazer and ETC!ETC!. If you haven’t heard it yet, then you’re doing it wrong. Music aside, this show was run MUCH better than the Crizzly and CRNKN show I attended last week at the same venue. Shoutout to IAM CollegeStation for flawlessly executing a sold-out show and for booking one of my favorite producers.
Before his set, I had the opportunity to sit down with Bro Safari and talk with him. It went like this:
TSS: Who is Bro Safari?
Bro Safari: “My name is Nick, I’ve been making electronic music since 1998, I started out making DnB, still making it with Evol Intent. I started Bro Safari around 2008 as a Dubstep project, made weird glitchy strange music, then put the project to rest for a while. I came back to it about 3 years ago when I heard Moombahton and that’s kinda where I am now.
TSS: How would you describe your music to a middle-aged soccer mom?
Bro Safari: I would probably say to listen to your average hip hop song, and tie in elements from all different kinds of electronic music. When i’m DJing i’m trying to make the crowd move, when i’m in the studio i’m just trying to make myself move.
TSS: How was it going solo after being with Evol Intent for so long?
Bro Safari: It was a weird transition. I shared all the duties with 2 other guys for so long, so when I started Bro Safari I had to do everything myself. I embraced it, at the time I was really motivated to just make something happen, and that motivation alone made the transition very easy. Whereas before the responsibility was split between the 3 of us, now it was all on me, but I like that kind of pressure. That’s how I get better at what I do.
TSS: Where is EDM going?
Bro Safari: It’s impossible to predict right now. The best stuff right now is just stuff that happened spontaneously. I think sometime in the next year someone is going to make a song that just blows everyone away and then everyone will just shift their focus and realize we don’t have to make the same song over and over. I mean one could argue that the electronic music “bubble” could burst and I don’t know what that would mean for the music itself, but I think whenever something gets so big and just implodes on itself that something good always comes out of that. I’ve been doing this for a long time now, 15 years, i’ve seen different scenes come and go but as long as the artists stay true to themselves it’ll be good.
TSS: Taco Bell or McDonalds?
Bro Safari: McDonalds
TSS: Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?
Bro Safari: 100 duck sized horses. You could just kick, they can’t get above your knees. And giant duck would have that sharp bill, that thing could fuck you up. Yeah i’d definitely want to fight 100 smaller creatures.
TSS: Fuck, Marry, Kill: Dillon Francis, Baauer, Tiesto
Bro Safari: Jesus Christ. I’m going to preface this by saying I don’t want to do any of these things to any of these guys. I’d probably fuck Dillon, because I don’t know, he seems like a fun guy. I’d probably kill Tiesto, i’m sorry Tiesto. I’d marry Baauer, because he’s just a super nice guy and we’d probably get along the best in the long term. I’m sorry Tiesto.
Needless to say this is HUGE collaboration. Major Lazer, Bro Safari and ETC!ETC! are three of the best Moombah producers out there right now and they all combined forces for a sick remix of Konshens Gal A Bubble. Despite its short length, this song packs a fiery Moombah, butt shaking, booty clapping punch that will get any dance floor grooving hard. Your typical Major Lazer sound with a whole lot of spark! Best part is these power houses are giving it out for free! Enjoy!

We’ve been waiting for this song for a little bit and damn am I happy its finally. Bro Safari is well versed in Trap while Sazon Booya brings the fiery Moombah aspect. Combine the two and you have one hell of a versatile banger. Danger is one of those tracks that just makes you wanna move and bounce around. Honestly, Nick is one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. I briefly bumped into him at UMF and introduced myself. I told him we love posting him music and he was more than grateful. So when he says this ones for the fans he truly means it. Enjoy this one for free guys, they brought the heat!

Besides having some of the sickest album artwork around, Bro Safari is known to THROW DOWN in his live sets and that’s exactly what he did here at weekend 2 of Ultra Music Festival. After producing insane banger after banger over the past couples months Bro Safari had without question earned his time to shine at UMF 2013 and that’s exactly what he does throughout the entirety of this hour-long mix.

Whenever I write a new song, I always want to get it out for people to hear immediately. I’m directly inspired by the music that others are making and also by everything else happening around me, so it makes sense that when I write something new, I should let it be heard as quickly as possible… right? A product of its environment.
That’s what I did here. I wrote this song over the last week and immediately thought to give it away on Soundcloud, as quickly as possible.
You’ve all been really good to me, so I’ll keep doing this as often as possible without compromising the quality of the material that I’m giving away. I definitely don’t want to just hand you guys “filler” tracks. Anyway, I have a lot of music in the pipeline, so there won’t be any shortage of material from me in 2013.

It made my day when I checked a tweet in my mentions from the LEGENDARY DJ Green Lantern. Green Lantern was Eminem’s official tour DJ during the Aftermath, Shady, G-unit takeover back in the early 2000′s and released mixtape after mixtape filled with his classic ‘Green Mixes’ that he is forever famous for. If you listen closely while listening to 102.7 The Beat in Grand Theft Auto 4, he’s the DJ mixing on the tables as you roll around Libery City to do your dirty work. Green also has a Sirius Hip Hop Nation Radio show called The Invasion, but for this mix, he lays it down for the TRAP with the hardest, bass filled tracks and remixes from Dillon Franis, Carnage, Heroes x Villians, RL Grime, and Bro Safari along with his own top-tier Green Mixes sprinkled throughout, it’s like icing on the cake. Bro Safari and UFO! are back to producing songs for their upcoming album, Future Primitive, which will hopefully be dropping early 2013. This track was set to be on the album but the pair decided to release it to us, for free! ’2012′ starts out with this giant brass sound, which progresses into this sweet build up, then we get the drop, packed with fat bass lines and chopped vocals. The track is available free for download, and make sure to follow them for more info on Future Primitive as we get closer to the full album being finished.

Here’s a remix that I did with UFO!
We saw that Skrillex had uploaded the stems for his song with Damian Marley “Make It Bun Dem” and we couldn’t resist. The original tune is killer, so we thought’d we’d put our twist on it. We didn’t submit this for the contest and basically just made it for our DJ sets at first.
