Earlier this morning, Above & Beyond’s record label Anjunabeats released an official statement regarding will.i.am’s alleged copyright impingement taken against ARTY & Mat Zo. will.i.am reached out and tried to work with ARTY, and when denied, he proceeded to steal, or “sample,” a large portion of ARTY & Mat Zo’s track “Rebound” to use in his new record “Let’s Go.” You can read more about the situation and watch an interview of will.i.am addressing the situation in our previous article here.

“If you look on the album, there is credit. You can’t steal if you credit someone.”

In our previous article we were skeptical about the above statement released by will.i.am in the Assosiated Press interview. It seems as though Anjunabeats shares our discontent with this logic in their official statement below.

Do you think Anjunabeats should take legal action again will.i.am? Do you think will.i.am will learn his lesson on the fourth time around? Not likely.

Anjunabeats is the record label behind Arty and Mat Zo and owns the master recording rights to their collaboration “Rebound.” Mat Zo and Arty have been important members of the Anjunabeats family for a number of years and “Rebound” was one of the label’s most popular releases in 2011.

As has been widely reported, a large section of “Rebound” was sampled onWill.i.am‘s track “Let’s Go featuring Chris Brown” and this took place without the permission of Anjunabeats or Arty & Mat Zo.

Although Arty (but not Mat Zo) was credited in the sleeve notes, this is not the same as obtaining permission. To present someone else’s work as your own, you need to seek permission, agree terms and file paperwork, which has not happened in this case. We’ve remained silent on this issue until now but as a record label it is our obligation to protect our artists’ interests and we felt it was necessary to respond to some of the inaccuracies that have been reported following Will.i.am‘s recent comments to Associated Press.

You’d think will.i.am would have learned his lesson by now having had three previous plagiarism accusations with Deadmau5, Adam Freeland and Boys Noize, but he’s back at it again this time ripping off ARTY & Mat Zo.

Last week American producer will.i.am released his tune record “Let’s Go” featured Chris Brown, and shortly after the release, EDM producers ARTY & Mat came forward declared that will.i.am stole a huge portion of their dance track “Rebound” after they refused to work with him on his new record.

Shortly after the release, will.i.am spoke on the accusation and admitted to have sampled “Rebound” in his new record on Kiss FM:

“Arty is a dope producer so I wrote this song to Rebound this last year.

“I got in touch with Arty and showed it to him… but something happened and hopefully we can resolve the issue.

It’s sad that it’s turned into a fiasco but hopefully it’s resolved, because I’m a fan of those guys. I contacted them last year and we’re fixing it now.”

Yesterday, will.i.am sat down with Assosiated Press and claimed to be unfairly accused of stealing a song from ARTY & Mat Zo for use on his new album. First he admits to sampling the songs and then claims to be unfairly accused? Sounds like a mess to me. You can watch the full interview below.

“If you look on the album, there is credit. You can’t steal if you credit someone.”

“And a lot of times, the community, for the sake of the art, bonds with each other. Why would I do that? I’m a part of the music community, and the community is small.”

Clearly will.i.am’s logic is impeccable and should not be questioned. What a joke! The music community may bond together over collaborations, but in this particular situation, ARTY & Mat Zo turned will.i.am down and he proceded to steal their creative property to make a career (and financial) gain in the music industry.

The bottom line and what we can take away from this situation, is that will.i.am has not learned his lesson in stealing, or “sampling” creative property, even with the lawsuits that resulted as a consequence after stealing from Adam Freeland. will.i.am is using his well-established stature in the music industry (6.3 million Facebook fans) to steal, or “sample,” from smaller artists without giving them the credit they deserve.

Which EDM artist do you think will.i.am will steal from next?

Seriously, could this day get better? Admittedly, this track nearly, just nearly slipped under my radar. Anyway, Arty’s track, ‘Together We Are’ gained an instant spot on my favourites playlist (no small task) and it received a crazy remix from one my personal favourite production ensembles. The remix itself is nearly nothing like the original, The M Machine completely strip the track down to nothing but vocals, then rebuild it from the ground up, creating very dark lines, with some twisted, distorted kicks, with melodic breakdowns inbetween. You can get the track on iTunes!

Oh. My. God. This track completely takes my breath away. After having discovered Arty through his big single, ‘When I See You’, he’s back with another magnificient track, this time featuring the vocalist who made his claim to fame on Deadmau5′ Grammy nomintated hit, ‘The Veldt’. The track itself features heart-throbbing vocals and the song melodically builds itself up and drops into a ground stomping, arms in the air, utopia of sound and music. The track is out now on Big Beat records via Beatport! I’d also keep a check on Arty as he’ll be doing big things this year!

First and foremost, happy 2013!
We’re back with the second edition of our newest segment! We would have posted last week, but all our authors were scrambled over Christmas and most of you were with your families anyway.
On to the music, let’s set off the new year on a good foot with a few progressive gems, and as usual they’ll all be available for free download at the end.
These tracks may not be bass-packed brain meters, but chances are you’ve got a headache anyway.

CHANGE is an incredibly talented young producer. This track was bundled in with his Nature EP a month or so back, and it is spectacular from every aspect. ‘Illuminate’ is one of my personal favourites in terms of progressive tracks. The vocals, the build up and the magnificent drop all contribute to a prosperous future for the aspiring producer.

Arty and Alesso have both had amazingly successful years, and the remix from Alesso coupled with Arty’s best oriinal track to date creates a breathtaking track. A very simplistic build up leads up to this grand drop, and a these beautiful melodies emerge all around you with an underlying ground stomping beat.

A track that dropped more than a month ago? What have I done? Forgive me on this one, but I’ve only recently discovered Dannic and have been obsessed with any project he gets involved with since. This bomb was featured on Example’s latest album, and the remix was a collaborative one with his fellow Revealed label members, Hardwell. The track speaks for itself, Example’s vocals suit the vibes that Hardwell and Dannic send out in this tune.

Chances are if you attend a fair amount of live shows, then you’ve heard this track already. When you take a melodic track from the likes of Keane, and Afrojack remixes it, you may be a little worried that Afrojack may go a little overkill. Thankfully he keeps his dirty beats at a minimal on this one to bring out the majestic house colours from the original track.

Keane – Sovereign Light Cafe (Afrojack Remix) | Beatport |

This next single from Walden is only a radio rip, so it won’t be in the download, but it’s still a track to keep an eye out for on the horizon. This one was featured last week on Hardwell On Air, and has been on repeat since.

Walden – Intropial (Preview) | Track Available Soon |
