It has that squelchy bass sound that he has definitely mastered, and is really an incredibly well done remix of a song that is a classic in my book. Bluestep is a signature Gramatik style genre clash. Lately I’ve been really into combining the vibes of raw 50′s and 60′s Blues with all kinds of EDM genres and one of the results is Bluestep. It’s a dynamic mixture of Blues and Dubstep, a plethora of screaming guitar, howling vocals and big bass, capturing the raw energies of both music worlds in a hopefully cohesive, possibly outrageous picture.

I first heard these guys at Camp Bisco over the summer, and was immediately a big fan. A live album they released previously became part of my morning routine on days when I had to wake up way earlier than I wanted to, and then not fall asleep on the train to my summer job. I just saw yesterday that they had released this eP, and I have to say it is even cooler than I was expecting. These guys have some serious chops, and its very cool to hear epic guitar solos over dubstep basslines and chopped vocals. Definitely check this out. They’re way ahead of the game as far as funky bass music with live instrumentation, and you can expect more music to start sounding like this in the very near future. Enjoy!

This album is really, really cool. I’ve been jamming out to it while doing my work all day. Although it’s a little more out there than a lot of the stuff we post, it has a really interesting concept. This is taken directly from the description on Bandcamp:
This is my sophomore album, Nostalgiarithm, finished 3 years after my first, Penultimate. It’s about the “downswing” of a night on the town, starting at peak hour with uptempo ‘club’ tracks and progressing down through more chilled out vibes until finally it passes out in the early morning. Of course, along the way there are plenty of detours… I hope you enjoy it; it has been a labor of love for six+ months!
PrototypeRaptor has some really deep stuff going on, while also being very catchy and danceable at all the right moments. As you can tell from his description, this is definitely an album to be enjoyed as a whole, which I think is something you really don’t see enough of in electronic music. It starts off with some really innovative housey tracks and slowly moves towards something akin to chillstep. The hard work he put in has absolutely paid off in my opinion, and I hope all of you enjoy this album as much as I have!

A lot of you guys have been requesting that we post more dubstep, as we’ve been slacking off a little bit on that front over the last few months. With this track, as well as the mixes posted earlier today, and Flux Pavilion’s incredible EP a few days ago, we hope we’re moving in a direction everybody is happy about (not that we won’t continue to post the illest trap bangers). This track, from the incredible producer Minnesota, has a really nice chillstep atmosphere to it that is similar to a lot of Minnesota’s other tracks. He does a really good job building and releasing energy, and the vocals sound beautiful as well. Enjoy!

This EP is one of those things you find in the depths of the internet at 2 in the morning. I’ve never heard of Rule of Eight, and most likely you haven’t either. His EP, released for free yesterday, which is his birthday, has a crazy energy to it that is really unique. I would describe the title track as being somewhat akin to Pink Floyd’s ‘On The Run,’ as interpreted by Bassnectar in the midst of a panic attack. While riding a motorcycle. Somehow it manages to simultaneously have a dirty trap feel and sound like a lost track from Daft Punk’s Tron soundtrack. The B-Side, Ghost Hack, is what I would imagine the sound track to the movie Space Jam would have sounded like if it actually took place in space. This EP is definitely worth grabbing, and throw the guy a like on facebook, he seems like he could use some of those. Enjoy! This kid’s going places.

This track is a little old but I just found it today and it bangs hard. I just had to post it. On Soundcloud, Yellow Claw’s bio simply reads “We are Yellow Claw and we are awesome,” and I have to say I agree wholeheartedly. These guys know how to produce seriously danceable trap music. Enjoy!

To kick off this week’s Saturday morning Trap, we’ve got a new single from the man who brought us what is indisputably the best Knife Party remix released to date. It’s called ‘OG Status’ and it has his usual style, a dirty trap feel with a mutilated bassline that manages to be both grimy and polished at the same time. It’s just as awesome as everything else heRobust has released, and I highly recommend that you download it, as well as the rest of his backlog if you haven’t already (especially his Lil Wayne and Knife Party remixes).
