[TSS Premiere] Basstrick’s ‘Holla At You’ EP Will Certainly Get Your Attention

One of France’s biggest heavy-hitters Basstrick is coming at us today in his usual hard-hitting fashion via his freshly released EP Holla At You. The EP features three tracks consistent to his menacing sound and he surely delivers in bringing the bass and wobbles.

The first song “Go” is aptly named and sets the EP off on a heavy note and will certainly get the crowd going. It may be the lightest of the three songs on the EP if it is possible to say such a thing and provides for a good warm-up for dub-heavy sets. After a seamless transition into the title track of the EP, Basstrick begins to pump up the bass and heaviness of things. Thunderous basslines open the song up before descending into twisted and industrial-sounding synths. Shades of Excision can be heard in this one with the robotic sounding drop and vocal sample used and the switch in bpm with the drops. The final song “Rock This” is the standout on the EP and is one of the crazier dubstep tunes that we have recently heard. Reminiscent of Trollphace’s sound which can be heard in the drop, it is easy to tell that Basstrick went all out on this one. The bass is monstrous and the drop is rhythmic and absolutely nutty. Continuous screams can be heard throughout the song along with sirens. It is a doozy to close out the EP and Basstrick steadily amplified the craziness of the tracks as he went on.

Consistency was key throughout the three tracks and we hear many of the same elements, especially in the melody, in each song. It makes for a smooth-sounding experience as the songs transition from one-another without much notice and plays like a cut of an album.

Holla At You is out now via Rottun Recordings and can be snagged as a free download. These songs are sure to be hits at various bass events and will definitely be played by many of your favorite dubstep artists so be sure to keep your ears open for them in the coming months. It is an EP that cements Basstrick’s rising standing in the dubstep genre and an artist we look forward to hearing more of in the coming months and years. This is a promising group of songs for the artist and he should be seeing a rise in popularity very soon.
